The Hoot & Hare Review Guidelines

People now say 'Have you seen the latest...?'
People will soon be placing Hoot & Hare Review
at the end of that question, because it's going to be
inventive, provocative, rejuvenating, a difference.
Let's resurrect the conscious.

Fiction, poetry, essays, art, interviews, academia, lists, contests, goodness, etc.

Currently not open for submissions
Reading period for Hoot & Hare 3
will be mid to late 2014

Guidelines for Submission:

1) To Submit:
Just make it good. At the moment there is no separate theme for each issue
except that the material is of high quality. It can be mainstream, unusual, quirky,
subjective, or (fill in the blank), but please edit edit edit before you send your
submission. If it's good, but needs a little work, don't be offended if we ask for
repairs, or if we say it doesn't fit us. Leaving the material open to nearly
anything doesn't mean it automatically fits the volume.

2) What To Submit:
Fiction: Flash fiction all the way up to 5,000 words-ish (roughly 20 pages).
Poetry: 1-5 pieces that compliment each other. No more than 12 pages.
Essay/Academia/etc: Should be well-constructed. Up to 3,500 words.
Art: Now accepting multiple artists per issue. Lay it on us.
Contests: Created by us. Let us know if you will offer a prize or giveaway.
Hoot & Hare's: Accepting stories using words that begin with H, O, T, A, R & E
Something Else: Suggest it to us. We might like it.

3) How To Submit:
Please send just one (previously unpublished) submission. We will review it
and discuss it with you if we intend to publish it. Simultaneous submissions are
certainly allowed. There's no point in sending a submission only to have to wait
to see if it's accepted. If your work is accepted elsewhere, just let us know.
Once published, and you decide to publish it again elsewhere, please pay
respect and give a nod to The Hoot & Hare Review for publishing it first.

4) Where To Submit:
Send your submission by email to HootandHare@gmail.com. Send the
submission in the body of the email, stating what it is (fiction, academia, etc.).
Layout of a piece may alter in the body of an email, but if we consider the
piece for publication, we will eventually see the your work in correct form.
A submission without 'H&H Submission' in the regards box will not be
accepted.

-We Do Not Open Attachments-

5) Other Goodness:
The immediate goal is for fantastic material to be read and be received by the
world. There is no compensation. Perhaps one day there will be. We will
send each contributor one free copy.

Currently, H&H will publish once a year. Once steam picks up, so might the
volumes. For a subscription, email us at HootandHare@gmail.com. We will
place you on our list and notify you when the next issue is near publication.
